Won’t be long and June will be here. And June means the start of trapping convention season. Here in the West it is getting a bit crowded!!

June 5-6. Idaho Trappers, Lewiston, Idaho (northern part of the state)

June 12-13. NTA Western. Williams , Arizona

June 19-20. Wyoming Trappers. Buffalo, Wyoming.

June 19-20, intermountain Fur Harvesters. Northern Idaho.

IF you are a supply dealer of any size and you want to hit 3 of the 4 conventions, here are some distances -

Lewiston idaho to Williams Arizona. 1116 miles

Williams Arizona to Buffalo Wyoming. 965 miles

Or Williams Arizona (back) to north idaho. 1284 miles.

Not sure WHY you would want to go BACK to north idaho when you were just there 2 weeks earlier!!!

And then we have 5 (maybe more) state conventions to fit in, just in the western US.

Upper Snake River
Montana
Nevada
Utah
Oregon (August)
New Mexico
Washington State

Very crowded summer. Lots of miles and long hours.

I’m not complaining or looking for a fight. Just pointing out the facts.

Feel free to comment. smile

I’ll be hitting Minnesotas then Wolfer Summit near Harrison the following weekend. Visiting Cody in between.
But I don’t think the wolfer thing is like a normal convention?

Thanks.

Any particular reason it is so close to ITA in date and location?

I understand about facilities being available and all the other logistics, just seems weird having them so close. Thanks.

I am not really sure of the reason, I wasn't involved in the decision making.

Rusty at the ITA moves the convention to a different location every year so that it moves around the state and is closer to different people every year. That way all members get a chance to go to it every few years without having to drive all day and spend the night. When you do that, you are going to end up being closer to other conventions occasionally. The leadership of ITA and Intermountain are close, and usually help out at each others events, so they discuss stuff and don't try to undercut each other. Bonners Ferry and Lewiston are about four hours apart.

Shakey, the Wolfer's Summit is not like a normal convention. Just a vendor or two, it is focused on demos on targeting one species, both hunting and trapping.

Just invite a bunch of old guys in bib overalls and camo hats over to sit around. Sprinkle some skunk musk around. Start BS-ing.

Same basic affect. NO travel costs!

Anyone going to the NTA or is this one is less popular now? I can't keep up with the drama. This one is in my backyard this year and I could help organize a tman feed if anyone is interested in getting together.

They kicked me out. So we'll be going to the FTA instead.

At this time, Trapperman does not support the NTA.

bearcat2 - if your post was directed at me, you are preaching to the choir! I know all that and then some. I’d say more but I like being on Tman and if I write what I would like to write, I’m sure I will be invited to leave permanently. So that’s that.

The Montana Fur Harvesters will be having a convention in Kalispell in May! It's where I'll kick off the 2026 season for the FTA. Then to PTA in June, NTA in July and wrap up with the FTA Convention in Macon, MO August 7-8th.

The Montana spring convention looks like a great event. Great web site. Very well promoted.

Good job Montana!! Other states should pay attention!! That is a hint…….

We do same over here.
When it's 115 degrees on the tarmac
rather than flannel shirt weather.
Many drive more rondy miles than
trap line miles. They have their reasons
and are friends.
