I keep getting adds for cheaper insurance. Saying that most of my premium goes to the agents commission? If I enter my information I get flooded with emails, txts and voicemails!
Is there a true deal to be found?

What type of insurance ? I know for auto it seems like every 4 or 5 years when we shop around we find thr same coverage cheaper with somone else and typically change. There has become a pattern.

On auto we have had the same agent for over 10 years. I have never met him. A call gets coverage, as a matter of fact he called me today because I called Saturday. He is insuring a car we have for sale for an extra couple weeks while it gets sold. Service is worth a few extra bucks. This is a State Farm agent.

I don't care who you have coverage with, every six months , they raise the rates.
So every six months I shop around.
I carry full coverage and road side assistance , under $300 for six months.
Same company wanted to raise it $ 60 , so I searched, same company , got it even cheaper than before.
It's a pain, but from $ 600 every six months to under $ 300, I think it's worth it.

You can trust me on this: the agent does not get the majority of the premium on property insurance.

I found years ago the agent is the most important thing. All mine are retired or dead. Today in this time and age. Repair costs or so high that a nice truck they look at there blue book check prices and just total the vehicle. Not knocking anyone but that’s the way I see it. I got ….. over the years and switched but they are all about the same. Just bundle to get best rates and just figure it is what it is in this day and age.

Tim, I don't think so, I have tried 2 times with no luck. State farm keeps calling after I tell them to stop and it drives me nuts...

I was an agent for over 50 years. The highest commission I ever got on auto insurance was 15%.

My advice is to insure with an independent agent who represents many companies. That way if your insurance rates do go up, they can check with some of their other companies for a better rate. A captive company agent can't do that since they only represent one company.

You know you're old when you walk past a rest room and think, as long as I'm here........

Tim,
I use Hanneken Ins., they represent many companies as Trapper 7 was saying. I am currently with Western National, I get the bare bones minimum, pay for a year at a time, just checked last years premium, $279 for the year. I wonder if Ralph Hanneken, our district 4 director is part of the Hanneken insurance family.

The Beaver and the Bear will show the way.

What are you insuring for that small amount . A bicycle?
Let me get this straight
FULL coverage PLUS road side assistance for under 300? What is your deductible 5,000? My 2022 silverado and my wife's yukon are 1500 for full coverage evrey 6 months.Thru Farmw buruea. I called around most are 2000-2500 for same coverage.

Yeah good luck getting paid for a claim using independent ins agents. I had 4 different people hit my vehicles and EVERY one of them balked and whined. I was sitting at a red light in a 2011 chevy silverado had 1100 miles on it. Some kid hit me with alpha ins . They wouldn't even pay to fix my truck. Farm bureau paid then went after them. After FB attorney got involved they should have just paid the claim. Guy hit my wife with Auto owners. Same thing. Think they went under...

$ 500 deducible , just keep looking.
I don't need a big truck anymore, a Chevy Colorado , is all I need.
I also upped my medical coverage .

I know people that pay more than I do for just liability , but won't shop around.
And for a junk truck with fenders rusted through.
I don't blame the agent, they're in the game just like everyone else, got to make as much as they can.
I'm also retired, and only drive about 3-5 thousand miles a year.

Got tired of it going up for no reason.
Let it go and every six months the price goes up more, soon you're paying twice as much.

I believe it's true that it's cheaper to total it, than repair it.
The insurance companies , then own it, and sell it to a recycle center.
