Guess I should answer that,,, I started the thread
Money is not a problem,,, many countries run the world reserve currency(usd) our goods are all traded in it as it is now. Or Canadain, or both
our own currency eventually,,,,hard money backed by gold, oil, bitcoin,,, that can all be worked out in the future
Unlike the Canadian $ which is backed by nothing,,,, just taxes
We don’t need the rcmp,,, we already have our own police force(sheriffs/municipal police)
Passports are easy,,, it’s just fancy paper
Ya, they’ll be a boarder,,,, not a problem
Albertans hunt/fish all over the world,,, people from all over come to Alberta to hunt/fish,,, again, not a problem
Albertans own property outside of Alberta all over the world,,, nothing changes
People from all over own property in Alberta,,, nothing changes
As far as shipping,, want to ship across Alberta?,,no problem, as long as it’s reciprocal
As per relocating out of Alberta,,, or into Alberta,,,,why would that be a problem? As long as they meet immigration rules in the jurisdiction
Ya, we’ll fund our own military,,,, not a problem,,, won’t need a coast guard or a navy,,,lol
Hope that helps
Looks like it’s all figured out……. Everything’s easy and not a problem…….lol. A nearly 300 mile shared border with Montana makes being landlocked a minor issue, since the US will be the primary trading partner of Alberta.
Keith Crap, really. Wicked! They can get stuff to port on the west coast of Montana. Is that where you bought your beach house Keith? Saskatchewan and Manitoba are right there with them. You're delusional. Manitoba is worse than Ontario in Canadian delirium. ????. I’ll bet the last time you’ve been to Manitoba was when they were carving out Duffs Ditch…… The people that talk like you are red flags themselves out here. If that’s what you think of Manitoba, you’re hanging out with the hippies and won’t fit in outside of their groups. Stick to their community for your safety……..lol Good morning by the way, hate to be a negative Nelly first thing……lol

Agreed, separation not going to happen. While I like leverage of the “threat” of it happening, as Alberta has had a lot of federal interference from the feds / east since confederation. A good indicator of Cannadian patriotism was the opening NHL playoff game that I attended 2 nights ago… the majority of the 18,000 plus Edmonton Oilers fans were singing the Canadian anthem without any help from anthem singer.I am a proud Albertan - we are somewhat unique in Canada as a get r done” province, endowed with oil/gas, entrepreneur's etc … but will remain Canadian first ; I love my country like most Americans love theirs.

I won’t chime in on whether or not Iit will happen because I do not know. I did read a piece awhile back though and it mentioned that establishing passports would take 2 years or more due to a variety of reasons, one being international negotiation. I don’t know if that time frame is true but it actually sounds more believable to me than “easy, it’s just fancy paper”.
It would sure cut down on the number of bear hunters near me, that I know.

It should be beyond obvious, there's no need of a port for Alberta to sell to the US. The goods can be freighted in by truck or train, or piped in through the shared 298 mile border. How is that hard to grasp?
Keith
Sweet, you got er all figured out. I didn't grasp how simple that was. They should hire you as the liaison between An & Montana, then they got someone to hang the day after you propose their options....lol. Shakey,,, it’s not going to be easy. Nobody thinks it would be easy
But none of those are show stopper problems
Yet to hear a legit reason why Alberta should remain?
They're not show stoppers, but getting simple things done/changed in a provincial government is incredibly painful as politicians do not have the drive to get things done. Now toss in dealing with other countries? Why should Alberta remain? The people of Alberta would see why within a year or two why. There's a ton of cascading/compounding effects of starting your own country. This has been tried before, but people forget history. Look at countries across the globe that tried this. I mentioned a few of the simple ones before, and I'm sure there are books written on this, but nobody would be able to get past chapter 1 without falling asleep.

I beleive there is changes to our provincial ID that might possibly double as a passport. Unsure why singing the Canadian anthem at hockey game would indicate independence won't happen? Please elaborate. People sing along to the star spangled banner as well. As a independence minded albertan it should be noted that we don't hate Canada we don't like the direction its going in.
As SP has said that when asked for a reason to stay all I've heard is crickets. Weird when there is a long list of reasons for independence and the only reason to stay is because it won't happen.
Canada isn't the only country in our lifetime that has broken up. Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia fairly recently have split. Yes it will have some growing pains but we're not reinventing the wheel. There has been lessons learned world wide about what works and what doesn't in terms of constitution. Most of the hard work is done and just gonna take some fine tuning and the will of the citizens which I beleive we've got. Why would you think a provincial id would double as a passport? It is pretty simple, for international travel, a passport is required.

I'm unsure the exact reasoning but suspect it is to do with passports. The changes are citizenship will be added to our ID.

The balkanization of Canada will be a nightmare for our future generations across the entire country, especially for Canadians on the east coast and the North. The rest of Canada will not stand for a few wingnuts trying to break up the Country.

For our future generations Why are passports not an issue? Serious question. Just because a small single digit % of people have multiple passports does not mean the idea is not a problem. Passports will be required and would Alberta residents not lose their Canadian passport if separation occurred? Again, just based on various articles from legal perspectives regarding the length of time to establish passports being likely a time frame of as much as two years, possibly more. I'm pretty sure they're not just fancy paper. I know many think Canadian Citizenship would be retained but the Clarity Act suggests that separation could terminate the rights of citizenship,

A quick google search will bring up some problems that will arise, then they'll compound after that. I mentioned a few before, the answer I got was that they'd all be taken care of. We all want politicians with drive. Problem is it's team work. Push too hard, they'll run em out. Kieth is speaking on behalf of the State of Montana and will help them figure how to move the goods and natural resources across the 300 mile border, so that's all taken care of, your resources are in good hands.
Has anyone looked into the funding and agenda of the groups funding the money behind the separatist movement. I haven't looked too deep, but I'll bet you won't like what you'll find.

If Alberta is successful in securing independence,,, they won’t lose Canadain passports, or pensions
People live internationally and still have passports and collect pensions
Sometimes multiple passports/pensions
A person will be able to renounce their citizenship if they so choose,,,, it’s a process, but it happens all the time
Or they could renew,,,,
People born in an independent Alberta will automatically get alberta citizenship
It happens all the time,,,all over the world
Again,,current passports/citizenship/pensions are not a problem,, you’re grabbing at straws
Shakey,, I can assure you APP/SF is a grass roots organization totally funded locally

For APP not to publicly disclose their funding raises some transparency concerns. Looks like you're getting all your info from their FAQ page. They're pro separatist. Would you go to guncontrol dot ca to get your firearms questions answered?
