When I bought my 2016 Honda Foreman 500 I got all the options offered for that model which includes everything electronic. Never had a single issue with anything electronics or mechanical except the heated grips only lasted 7 years. I used it only for trapping and never trail riding so probably compared to others, very low mileage. Never used it in low range and only used the winch once pulling a sled load of beaver up a steep hill.

I bought a 2003 Honda Foreman 450 that was a couple years old. The only problem I've ever had with it was I had to replace a muffler. It's very dependable with starting and running with normal maintenance. The power it has for it's size is amazing, IMO.

Big units are nice units until you are stuck or rolled.

New Honda is 12,900.
Old Honda is 1-3,000.+ and minimum electrons

Take a look at the one listed in the trap shed that comes with a trailer and some boxes.

You're friend along the snare line .

Yep its fun when they get stuck like this, with no winch. And nothing to winch to even if you had a winch to use. Had to call in another SXS that had a winch. Winching out the stuck rig sunk the second rig and it got stuck so had to play a round of leap frog winching till we hit solidish ground. [Linked Image]

I just bought a 2006 Honda 350 Rancher 4X4 with 621 miles on it for 2800 bucks. It had been sitting in a barn for the last 10 years un-ridden. I put a new after market carb on it and normal maintenance to it and it is running and working great. It would take a lot more than 2800 bucks for me to sell it now. I bought it after selling my 86 Honda 250 ES Big Red Three wheeler for 3500 bucks. It was in great condition and the guy made me an offer I couldn't pass up since I gave 600 bucks for it 25 years ago. (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) three wheelers are like gold now a days if they are in good shape.

I was using my old rancher yesterday cutting little trees out of the pasture. I’ve had it over 20 years. Sleeps outside almost all the time. I put boats in and out of the river on our sand bar with it all the time. It’s been to Canada moose hunting countless times. I’ve never done anything major to it. Good non ethanol gas and Mobil 1 or Rotella T6 oil. For a little 350 it really gets it done. Not sure what I’ll do when it finally gives up the ghost. Maybe I should start taking better care of it.

I own two 4-wheelers. I bought a Honda 300 in 2007 it was 10 years old. Works great, I use it for trapping and hauling sap out of the woods and it is on our son's farmette all summer. Small enough to kick start easy if needed. Biggest cost is replacing tires as needed. The other is a Sazuki 450 King Quad. It is a 2007 model bought used in 2019. I use that for hauling the heavier sap loads and it is on the farmette all summer too. The Honda is foot shift the King Quad is hand shift. Broke a brake cable this year other than that no issues. At 78 I am hoping these will hold up a few more years.

I own 3 four wheelers. I have 2022 - 850 Can Am (2 - seater).

I use this for riding trails. Nice unit but too big for hunting or trapping, don`t spent your money on this.

I have 2008 - 450 Yamaha Kodiak.

This is a nice little 4x4 and very reliable and good to do just about everything. I use it for bear and moose hunting and trapping during winter months. My kids (24 and 25 years old son and daughter) are also ridding it. If I had to get rid of two ATVs, I would definitely keep this one. I paid $4,000 CAD for this. It had only 1801 miles on it and in mint condition, equipped with windshield, heated grips, front box and gun case. Only one owner (80 years old) who used it 2 - 3 weeks per year and for moose hunting.

I also have a 1987 (bought brand new) - 300 Kawasaki Bayou - 2x4.

Unless you are planning on ridding in deep mud holes, this ATV is light, fits nice in the box of the pick truck and is extremely reliable. I use it mostly for trapping and deer hunting. Although it only a 2x4, you can unlock the rear differential and it great to haul deer out of the thick stuff. Never touched the motor or drive shaft, I just replaced the usual stuff. If you can get one in good shape, you won`t kill this ATV. Very cheap to run and there is not much you can break on those old units. You can pick this up for next to nothing.

Good luck!
