Anyone have a Charger? Ruger recently discontinued them, I found one new in box at a auction for $310, they've recently spiked in price on gunbroker so I was excited to get one.

If anyone has one what do you do with it and how is it set up? I'm in a bit of a holding pattern til the pistol brace rule gets figured out more clearly.

I don't have one but I was looking at getting one

my 22can is sitting in suppressor purgatory

they make a nice little folding pistol brace for it , and with a low micro dot I figured it as a very portable light weight gun for targets of opportunity while trapping.

most of my trapping is farms much of it nuisance often hay barns

sometimes I am walking in as a couple coons are headed out the back or side I have shot a few with my little wrangler pistol like that but a braced charger with can I thought would be ideal.

they make a picatinny adapter for the back of that grip it goes where the metal part is on it now behind the action , then picatinny mount braces are an option.

I would do this but...

I don't trust my state to not make SBRs illegal at the state level, it seems like low hanging fruit for the idiots in St Paul who need a "win".

I have an arm brace, a suppressor, and a Pulsar thermal scope on mine.

We shoot pack rats with it.

My best shot ever with it: I turned a mouse inside out at 25 yards (at night, with the thermal). If I thought there was any chance of hitting it, I would have hit record on the thermal.

what do you run for ammo?
I have been buying the CCI subsonic lead hollow points , they keep the noise down some even without the can , I liked them better for shooting inside.

I just need the ATF to clear my can , never understood why the second one has to take as long or longer than the fist can.
Like you ran all the stuff on me 7 months ago shouldn't this go faster.

I am complaining but it should be any day now Monday will be 3 weeks since the submission went effective even though I ordered in March.

for now it is going on a Ruger MK4

That gun with the Thermal is about perfect, I want more less that except a folding arm brace and a regular scope. I hope they clarify the arm brace rules soon. Thanks for posting it!

Isn't it annoying how subsonic cost more?

When I first got it, brought every 22lr ammo I had to the range with a chronograph and they all were supersonic. But with the 10" barrel I thought something cheap ought to stay subsonic. So I did some looking and found that CCI standard velocity claims to be slightly supersonic. I bought a small box locally, confirmed its subsonic out of the 10" charger, then bought a case online. Its not as cheap as the cheapest bulk 22lr, but its a lot cheaper than the stuff labeled subsonic. Thats the only thing I shoot out of it now.

Some of you guys get to build the coolest toys……lol
It’s the Charger that got all our Ruger 30rd mags and drum mags on the prohib list. The number of chargers in Canada could be counted on one hand. They figured out that it was basically a 10/22, but it being classified as a pistol, the mag had to be pinned to 10rds. So like a good gun community does, we design something new to replace it……….its retarded.

A regular 10/22 with a folding stock is pretty short. Oh you probably like it shorter b/c you are adding the can huh. Makes sense I guess. Pretty neat looking. I always saw those pistols and wondered what to do with them but thats pretty neat I guess.

Subsonic ammo works the best with a .22 can. Not all subsonic ammo is equal. In my experience Aguila subsonic yellow and blue box were great, the box changed and I don't know if the ammo did. Remington subsonic for example always seemed pretty hot. (subs may or may not cycle the action FYI. The ones that don't are quieter.)

How do you and how often do you guys clean your cans? (Seems kinda personal.) Watch that, they can gum up and freeze solid like its rusted shut. With mine I wouldn't shoot a box or two of shells and then go put it up.

My folding stock 10/22 had sling brackets on the opposite side of the fold so you could keep a short sling on that side and it would stay flat on your back cross slung without the pistol grip or folding stock jabbing you in the back.

Get your anchor points right and dont have a bunch of barrel sticking above your head but you probably don't have that problem with these short things though. (Makes it easier walking through the woods/brush.)

I want to have a suppressor on it full time and leave it on the passenger seat of my truck in a gym bag when I'm checking cows. We own 3 pastures with the furthest one being 65 miles or so from home so it's a long rural drive. A suppressed folding stock .22 should easy to transport on horse, 4 wheeler or carrying.

Looks like it'd fit in the ultra-sonic.
With todays ammo, good thing.

I thought about getting one, or just a barrel and putting it on a regular 10/22. But I never did. Friend of mine has one and carries it for cat hunting with the hounds. Fits good in a backpack and shoots pretty good with the long barrel, but a little muzzle heavy to shoot offhand, would be worse with a can. I got a 10/22 takedown instead, but thought a Charger with folding stock (or 10/22 with folding stock and Charger barrel) would make a pretty slick pack gun.
