My neighbor across the street passed away in December. In his garage is a red 70 Cuda with a 340 engine that hasn't been started in 20 years. He showed it to me over 20 years ago, and it was nice. I don't know what it looks like now. His wife said it has a cover over it and has 4 flat tires. I imagine whoever ends up with it will have to go through it and replace fluids and gaskets. It would be quite a project. I wonder what it would be worth.

I wonder if it's worth more as a "barn find" in its current condition or worth more pulled out and cleaned up?

I'll take it.
Did up a Challenger for the wife back in the day. Plain Jane white. She loved it.

Hopefully someone in the family will give it the needed TLC it needs, and takes good care of it.
Let me sugar coat this

A 1970 "BS" code Plymouth 'Cuda refers to the high-performance sport model (BS23 for hardtop, BS27 for convertible) in the E-body lineup, distinct from the base Barracuda (BH) or luxury Gran Coupe (BP). These featured performance engines like the 340, 383, 440, or 426 Hemi, often with "cudas" badging, heavy-duty suspension, and optional shaker hoods.
Key 1970 'Cuda (BS) Details: Platform: 1970 was the first year of the redesigned, shorter, and wider E-body, sharing components with the Dodge Challenger. Engine Options: Standard was a 383ci 335HP V8, with options for 440ci (four or six-barrel) and 426ci Hemi. AAR 'Cuda: A special version, the 1970 AAR 'Cuda, was released to homologate the 340ci six-barrel engine for racing. Performance: The 1970 AAR 'Cuda could accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds. Identification: The "BS" code in the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) distinguishes it from the base Model BH and luxury BP.
The 1970 'Cuda is known for being a powerful muscle car with iconic options like high-impact colors and, often, a shaker hood.
Engine & Model: True "BS" code (Cuda) cars with 340, 383, 440, or 426 Hemi engines command the highest premiums. Condition: According to [Hagerty], a #3 condition (good) 383cid convertible is valued around $58,000, but pristine cars reach much higher.
Body Style: Convertibles are significantly rarer and more valuable than hardtop coupes.
Authenticity: Numbers-matching cars, especially Hemi models, are the most valuable, while "tribute" or "clone" cars are cheaper.

The AAR I wrenched on was 440. I "guess" the engine could have been changed. And the K frame. And the rad and And the rest of the BB package. No homo logates that I knew of.
Seen a girl with one of the newer hemi cars. I was impressed for this day and age.
Many say we should have kept them all. They do not realize that cost.

AAR 'Cuda (340 Six-Barrel): This is a specialized model produced only in 1970 to homologate the car for Trans-Am racing. It features a specific 340 cubic-inch "Six-Pack" (three two-barrel carburetors) engine, a fiberglass hood, a matte black hood and roof treatment, rear deck spoiler, and side-exit exhaust (megaphone tips). Only 2,724 units were built.
Regular Barracuda/Cuda (340 4-Barrel): A 1970 Barracuda (or 'Cuda) with a standard 340 4-barrel carburetor was a common performance configuration. While highly desirable, it lacks the specialized homologation parts, specific racing striping, and the AAR VIN designation.
Key Differences for Identifying an AAR Model: Engine: The AAR came with a 340 Six-Barrel (Code W-1). Exterior: Fiberglass hood with functional scoop and pins, front and rear spoilers, and unique strobe stripes. VIN Tag: The AAR 'Cudas have a special fender tag and VIN, often recognizable by the engine code and body type.
A 1970 'Cuda 340 with a 4-barrel is still a very valuable and collectible "Mopar" muscle car,

The one I knew was AAR, 440 single 4bbl. 727. It slid down the road on its roof never touched the sides. He wouldn't sell the whole car, title. I bought the L door, trunk, some trim, shifter, and steel hood. The guy was my neighbor, and we wrenched and raced together. A 340 GTS beat it most every time.
I wont argue further. I lived this.

I don't know for sure if it's a Barracuda or a Cuda. She said she'd take a picture of it for me. I do know that he replaced the engine.

Easy big block swaps on early mopar. AAR’s were small block only cars from the factory. One year production. A person would feel pretty stupid now if you swapped one out and still owned it.

The 340 GTS was as fast as any factory car. I think it had 300 hp but weighed less than a vw.
Just the right amount of whelm.
