wissmiss trapper W Joined: Jan 2007 north Idaho	Tough call. You want to remove the paint but not the patina underneath. Taking it down to bare metal might mean sacrificing some of the value. I am very naive when it comes to removing paint but how do you control how far down you go? Seems to me that once you start using strong chemicals, you lose control. foxkidd44 trapper Joined: Jun 2007 Illinois	I don’t know if a 50/50 vinegar water would ruin the patina. It would most certainly remove the paint though. Just leave it in there for about a week or two… that’s how long I soak to remove paint… I just go to the car wash and spray it off… Stand by your principles, Stand by your guns, and victory complete and permanent is sure at last.
