The color is part of the equation. Orioles are attracted to the color orange. Also, actual oranges.
Gotta find a way, a better way, I'd better wait
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you

Finally heard and Oriole outside just before sundown. Gotta get the feeders out, buy some oranges and grape jelly. They will be all over the place pretty soon!
Moosetrot UPDATE! Found 2 jars of Grape Jelly left over from last year and an orange quite shriveled up in the fridge drawer. Got my feeder out and in less than 5 minutes had Orioles. We usually have both Orchard and Baltimore. Moosetrot

Both Baltimore and Orchard here too. The Orchard Orioles aren't here yet, but they will be!

Nice work Nate. They do love grape jelly. I got a pair working a feeder here. So colorful and quite the singers too. Nate I just got my hummingbird feeders up too. Trying a new model this year, hope they work. Nice sturdy metal and glass combo. Got these fairly reasonably priced at home goods. Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I had a bird in the yard the other day. It was bright yellow with black wings, more the flight feathers then totally black, it was very close to oriole size and appearance. I haven't came up with an ID for it with some quick searching. Any Ideas? Sounds like a gold finch to me okie. They been changing color for the last couple weeks here. Orioles showed up about a week ago. Hummers are here now also. Russ
