Don't really get the point of a single catch turtle trap

my guess , ADC , someone has a turtle complaint so you bring in the turtle trap , trap their turtle and get paid.

if they call again go get paid again

if you catch all of them at once you miss out on paydays

also people think of that type of cage trap as the most gentle and then think it will be safely released at some sanctuary

edit: this is of course me thinking , if something exists , follow the money or it wouldn't exist for long.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

A nearly worthless turtle trap. You will only catch 1 turtle PER POND! Snapping turtles are not dumb. In the average pond situation you get only 1 night to catch as many turtles as you want out of that pond. After that they are cage smart and will not enter a trap. Not that summer and often not for several summers after.

Look at Lousiana net and twine or other net companies monst have metal nets with cotton flues they work good we just make hoop nets with three hoops and a single flue. Never had good luck with metal traps.

I would put that one on the armadillo line. Kind of a 660 diller trap, lol.

Say what?!? Just this week, meaning Sunday to today, I've caught three. First in a Comstock cage, then caught the same one in a 330 (His toe was missing, not my fault), after moving him 100 yards or so. He went back into the pond, out the stream, back into a BG. Today two more out of same pond/stream, both in 330s. They are dumber than 'possums.
I only had 3 traps set. I've done turtle jobs and caught as many as 17 from one pond. But, I wouldn't use a single catch trap like above for turtle work.
Will be setting mb750's tomorrow for the beaver.

Agreed they are as bad as opossums about plugging good sets and needing cleaned out so you can target what you're really after.

What you will catch as singles is a snapper in a net set for sliders and basking turtles. The two don't mix, either a net full of sliders or a single snapper running them off.

We are talking baiting them into a cage trap, not catching them as non-targets in a beaver trap.

Snapping turtles can release a musk when they're aggravated. I wonder if it works as a warning to other snapping turtles too? It's possible that once they want to leave the trap and start trying to tear out, they get frustrated and musk in the trap, which may settle through the wire and warn other turtles away.
