A few broken ones, a very crude one and a decent one. The small piece is the tip of a drill. I値l have to check my collection to see if it matches any of the other broken ones lol.

Your fields have few/no rocks. Do you know how far away was the rock outcroping these points originated from?
Where I am they could pick up rocks to make points everywhere. Probably used the ones under their sleeping robes that stuck them in the back at night time.

I知 not sure. The rock river is a stones throw from this spot. I知 guessing it got its name from that because it is shallow in a lot of places and very rocky on the bottom. A rock quarry is about 5 miles as a crow flies

There is a spot about 50 yards from where I find a lot of stuff at this spot has tons of smooth stones in maybe a 50 by 100 foot area. Nowhere else in this field has stones like this and I wonder if they were brought there and that痴 where they kept them until needed.

Stone quarries are usually limestone and a lot of time there are flint nodules imbedded.
Foxxkid, I will respectfully disagree on a Hopewell designation. Hopewell points are typically corner notched, whereas this point is side notched. Look up a Snyder's point for the difference.

You central Illinois guys are in the middle of the Havana focus of classic Hopewell culture. Huge number of mounds on the Illinois river. The old closed down Dickson Mounds State Museum was incredible.

North of the quad cities between Mississippi and rock river. Like to get down to the Illinois River someday, I hear it is a good spot to find artifacts along the banks.

Nice finds DRF. Pretty cool how the Indians figured out how to knapp points.

DRF, back in the 80's I hunted Pike county a few times. Found some fabulous stuff. Stick to the high bluffs above the floodplain. I think deer leases have probably ruined that. Saw my first coyote there.
