I recently harvested a couple of snapping turtles. I saved the livers and the yellow fat for a possible predator lure. Any recommendations on how to make a predator lure out of them? Thanks.

I like to sun render any fat.
If I was trying for the first time I would grind the liver fresh, mix with sun rendered fat and freeze in plastic jars.

I always thought rotten turtle was a great call smell.

I was thinking about a curiosity lure. But any idea is appreciated. I've not used snapping turtles for lure before.

When you finalize making that lure, you can call it "Slow Roller". Ha!

I might just call it that. Thanks for the idea.

So far I've made a base of turtle juice and equal part crawfish oil. Early testing is promising. I'll know more when it's tested on the line.
