how many of you have had Lox ?

Salt cured fish

my youngest had to make if for culinary school last week and brought me a fillet last Saturday.

I am hooked , they used salmon , they sliced thin strips but left the skin so the meat was cut every 1/8 inch or so but just down to the skin and that held it all together

my son called it Jewish Sushi which isn't all that far off.

I am thinking a bunch of Lake Michigan salmon are going to become Lox this year.

I was eating strips of it on cream cheese on red pepper because I don't do bagels or toast anymore.

I have had it in the past a few places with Bagels but it was typically mixed with cream cheese already.

we are often talking about picked fish , this is another way to pickle fish doesn't keep quite as long but darn tasty

I would try lox. They sell lox at Jungle Jim's. I should get some.

Gelfite fish looks worse, but I would try it too.

I will not eat them in a box.
I will not eat them with a fox.

Gotta find a way, a better way, I'd better wait

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you

There's 3 kinds of Lox, regular brined Lox,,,then there's Novi lox, brined then cold smoked, and finally Gravlax, brined with spices...

Essentially cured "raw" salmon....very Jewish....it's an acquired taste, lol..If you like sushi you'll like Lox...

Anything Jewish would be better with bacon…

what I have had in the past was Novi Lox as it was slightly smokey

This was Lox and I do like sushi

really I think if you like fish and not just the breading the fish is coated in you are likely to like Lox yes it is a little fishy that salmon oil and flavor comes through.

because they don't "do work" on Saturday from sun down on Friday till sun down Saturday it represents a kosher unwrap and eat meal option. it is eaten cold so also no heating issue.
Bagels already cut on Friday , cream cheese in tubs ready to uncover and serve . Lox that can be placed on the challah bread or Bagel and eaten.

wash that down with some wine

I love good bagels and cream cheese. I don't know that I've ever had any other Jewish food, but based on those I would try it. I would try pretty much any food that I though was prepared in a sanitary manner, except primates.

Love Novi lox. A supermarket near me keeps a slab of smoked salmon. They sell their broken pieces for about a third of the price of the sliced pieces. I like the "chips".

I would eat them on a train
In the rain
In a box
With a fox
At the zoo
And with you
In a car
At a bar
I would eat them near and far

Sorry Dr. Seuss

Yes I have. And did anyone eat, Blind Robin?
When I was growing up every gin mill and corner store sold Blind Robin. A smoked salted herring snack
