i realized i spelled it incorrectly and came back to correct it. the average person has no idea about trawler bycatch. if they did there should be more protests than the king ones. i don't care about how complex an issue it is, it is wasteful and should not be allowed to continue.

Alaska trawl fisheries, primarily in the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska, generate approximately 100 to 141 million pounds of reported bycatch annually, consisting of non-target fish and species. Major bycatch includes over 300,000 chum salmon, over 30,000–45,000+ Chinook salmon, and millions of pounds of halibut (e.g., 3.8–5.48 million pounds) and herring (approx. 3–6 million pounds).
