Out west these are common. Locally not so much. Probably biggest one I’ve put on my boat. Ok season so far but weather is keeping me from the better grounds [Linked Image]

Yeah. Just a 12V motor with on/off switch basically. Deep drop reel, Bandit reel. Same thing

Seen a few rednecks using windsheild wipers on their truck for jigging thru the ice,
When the wiper slaps on the windsheild you got a pike on.
Nice fish TF.Cod is the go to fish at the chippie in England.Good eating fish.

Do you catch many Ling Cod where you fish?

Can't even fish cod in federal waters here....and not many in State waters....regulations have severely curtailed commercial fishing....

Local friends and i prefer cod over halibut. .more moist, not dry.. cod going for 72 cents per pound i heard. Halibut so high haven't heard but some say maybe 10 bucks a pound. Harvest # lower this year..
This halibut was just caught by a friend over in south east alaska. Very rare, like 12 known caught. Old timer here recalled seeing one years ago [Linked Image]
This is not AI .been researching

Shouldnt the price be going up due to increase in fuel costs?

You would think. Buyers shipping costs are up tho and the fish are post spawn now so no roe and milt which they make money on. Korean market for cod milt. Ugh

I wish we could buy any species of good eating fish here for 60 to 72 cents a pound. Even catfish is $4.99 a pound or more.

Heavy on ice, maybe 3k lbs fish in fwd holds, bow dipping into a swell and about 1.5-2 knots of current

what is awful if the by catch by the trollers and never used. I cannot understand how this continues to happen.

Trawlers, not trollers. Big difference. Trawler bycatch is a hot button issue these days. Fish politics is complex when you have so many different species, management agencies, gear types, vessel sizes, areas etc.
