Had a couple 330's this year the jaw's came apart as in the hole where the rivet connects them in the middle wallered out allowing the jaw's to seperate. Never had that happen before, wasn't aware you could wear out 330's. Old one's from the 80's and 90's still going. It really is the junk generation these days.

What brand were they?

It is the rivet that generaly wear out.Just put a new rivet i, I have a couple I have to do.

Should be an easy welding fix.

I just had one come apart where the top and bottom jaws are spotwelded together, 1st time for me.

Call Hop Sing III in China and complain.

Don't think these were made in China.

Yep.have 280 and 330 waiting for new springs to be installed. Yep, don't get it either. Have 3 dozen more belisle and their fine.

Grabbed the trap outta the back of the truck, hiked alllll the way out to the lake levee crossover trails... drove a stake in..... went to set the trap and found that. I about threw the thing in the lake until I remembered how much they cost.

Lack of mtc.

Belisle had a problem with that a long time ago Angela, far as i know they fixed it since none of mine have done that. Same with the old bridger 5 longsprings, they got a bunch of junk springs years ago and they would break while sitting in the bed.

This isn't anything breaking, the jaw holes just pop over the washer at the joint, like the metal has been wallowed out. I know one is a bridger, the newer kind not a ancient one, still using those and no problems. Have to look at the other one when i clean the truck out for the summer, think it might be a belisle but have to check to make sure.

I just put a bolt some washers and self locking nut.

Seems to work just fine.

Do u leave the springs set year-round?

I never leave them set but know many people who do with no effect on spring strength. That ought to stir the pot!

Line Jumper, I'm not sure if you're advocating for leaving your springs set or unset. Either way... You Are Wrong!

I try not to.... but I can neither confirm nor deny whether or not that particular trap may have been treated in that manner... it could have been.

Always set = always under tension = that'll show you the weak spots.

Kinda fits a wore out trap for a wore out trapper
