All 4 of my grandparents (now deceased) were born in the late 1800s. Those of you with grandparents born in the 1920s are just youngsters! My parents were born earlier than that! LOL

Then I probably shouldn't tell you that mine were born in 1938 and 1940 lol.

That’s when your grandparents were born??? Holy Cow. That means I’m almost old enough to be your grandmother!! LOL. You are just a young whipper snapper, compared to a lot of us. smile

My maternal Grandfather was born in I think 1897. Served in WWI as what he called a safety officer. He basically packed wounded back to where an ambulance could get to. He volunteered and joined the 364th field hospital when it was being commissioned in Portland. When I was little he seemed really grumpy and a bit off. I look back on it and think he might have had PTSD.

My grandpa was born in 1899 and passed away in 1986. If you've heard the Randy Travis song I thought that he walked on the water it could have been written about my grandpa and it always reminds me of him.

My Grandfather on my dad's side was born in 1912. Passed away at the age of 94. He cut his own firewood until the age of 89. He did all the cutting, and I would split and stack it for him. Then he went to live with my parents for his last 3 or 4 years.

My grandpa was 45 when my dad was born. My dad was 45 when I was born. I'm 59 and have a 3 year old, 2 year old and one 7 months old. Hope I pass on some wisdom I didn't have when I was young.

This is my great grandpa about 1910 in Loysville PA. He caught these rats on Sherman's Creek. He was born in 1860. I still shoot his shotgun that is in this picture. He didn't have waders to get these rats. Wish I had some of his traps.

so you were like 50 and got yourself a 30 year old wife?

good for you

I thought it would be weird to date women 20 years younger since my kids are that age.

my parents were 46 when my oldest was born , my grandparents were 46 when I was born

Kelli is 45. She's 14 yrs younger than me. We are hoping for one more too! Ha! I never had kids till now and we both like kids so we are just going to see what happens. We are both whipped by these kids by the end of each day. It's the best job I ever had.

My Grandpa grew up by Carlisle Pa and worked at the Indian orphanage there for a while. His claim to fame was that he cut Jim Thorpe's hair.

Mother side: Great Grand Pop Joe. 20 Jan 1870 to 12 Apr 1960.

Father's side: Great Grand Pop Albert. 5 Jun 1877 to 5 Jul 1965.

Both played with me when I was a youngster, I clearly remember both of them very well.

Joe was a fireman utilizing horses and a hand pump. Operated the first motorized firetruck in the city.

Albert helped build the first nuclear submarine Nautilus at the Electric Boat Company Groton Connecticut. Also served in the Spanish American War 1898.

An era when men were men!
