While I don't drive enough for the price at the pump to significantly affect me, I believe we are just now beginning to see the overall effect. Every single thing we buy relies on crude. First it is flew or railed, sailed or trucked somewhere, all of which requires fuel, then it is further transported to retail locations. Not to mention all the businesses requiring fuel just to produce those items before transport... whether it's produced by a multinational corporation, or a farmer on a tractor. Even if the war ended today, the ramifications of these higher prices will last for a while, I am afraid.

you folks are lucky, the village down the road from us is paying 10.25 per gallon for gas. The village across the bay from them is out of fuel until the barge comes in next month after the ocean ice goes away.

How could any president have prevented high gas prices last time? We know the one cause this time.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but crude oil prices peaked about 5 days ago. On Monday, US initiated Operation Freedom, which began escorting ships out of Persian Gulf.......which resulted in a few missiles fired at UAE and 6 fast boats sunk. In short.....almost no ability at all for Iran to enforce closure of the straight. The Black Knight was still making threats, but had lost both arms and legs.
Then yesterday, it was announced a halt on that plan to entertain new Iran proposals.....suggesting Iran is about to fold. This morning crude oil prices dropped $10 a barrel or about 12% overnight. Dow broke 50,000 this morning too. About a month ago, when TACO (as some like to call him) announced a cease fire agreement and then head of Iran said they would open Straight........oil prices dropped to $79 a barrel overnight.
This was and always has been a temp price spike......and unfortunate side affect of dealing with Iran......the worlds largest sponsor of terror. In about 90 days, TACO may be on the verge of taking them down......flipping entire dynamic of middle east in process. Paying a few bucks more for gas on a temp basis to achieve that goal seems like a small sacrifice to make to get to that end. That is a different story than before when it was done deliberate and on purpose and was supposed to be for the long haul. If I have to pick one path to follow it would not be that one.

Have to fill my pickup this morning. Not looking forward to it. Diesel was 5.05 yesterday. No clue what gas will be. If we end up with an Iran that no longer attempts to acquire nukes, no money to fund islamic insanity, I will put up with it.

Recent events look promising, but this could actually get worse before it gets better. But the big picture is..........likely it is going to get better once the IRGC is taken down. To me, that needs to be the end game. We have been slightly mislead about Iran. On the surface, it appears to be a Theocratic form of government run by the clerics. But what we quickly found out is it is actually being run by the IRGC, which represents about half of 1 percent of the population, but which have been skimming about 40% of all oil revenue Iran gets and using it to enrich themselves and to pay for all the terror activities. The nukes was but one part of it, but it was going to be a big part. Had they gotten nukes, doing what TACO has done to them not possible without major fireworks.
IRGC it turns out is run more or less like the mobs......or drug cartels........except with a violent purpose. It is all those boys know and they have no other life or purpose in life except to continue. I don't see them walking away no matter how bad it gets. So this is likely to continue until the other 90M or so Iranians are able to overwhelm whatever oppressive force they have to submit to now......and start taking the IRGC bunch out. The boots on the ground are already there.......they just don't have the means to rise up.......yet.
But as long as IRGC remains in power.......they will be back. It will take time......but will be back. We went this far, if it takes a few more steps to take that bunch down, so be it. They gotta go.

I feel sorry for the people that need gas or diesel in volume for their job or have much distance to get to their job... I probably average 10-15 gallons a week so really haven't felt it much... yet.

My cousin gave me some "I did that!" stickers. Put one on the gas pump and copper wire the other day. 25 percent tariff on copper wire.
