My friends are leaving fast now! Just called to talk with a man my age, and his daughter told me he had passed. Now I look on T-man and find Russ is gone. Last week it was Gary. Guess it ends for me when I tip over! RIP old friends!

RIP Russ,great lure maker,his originals and his latest lures.Grew up in fur boom,used his lures and had his books,Pro's Choice or #3 is a great lure along with many others,great trapper fox,mink and later in his year coyotes,you will be missed.Too many of our older trappers are leaving this earth behind,getting crowded up there,lots of good stories being told,God and Jesus might be turning into trappers,listening to all the stories......

RIP Russ. His books taught me alot and his lures caught me alot of critters.

I grew up an hour from Russ and our fox/mink lines actually crossed. I saw him on a dairy farm near Thompson one day and we chatted for a few. He was a trapper's trapper. Rest in peace dear friend.

A sad day today.

Russ, dug the well deep for all of us. He deserves so much credit for his influence on trappers but also for his example of integrity. He served our country in so many ways he touched the lives of so many and he made a difference! He made a difference for me. The flag at Carman Stadium will fly at Half Mast. What a friend he was to me. When God thought about making a man I'd bet he had an image of Russ in mind. I will surely miss him. I'm sad he is gone but I'm so happy he lived. He got out of this world without screwing up the end game. Russ Carman was a real life legend and always will be. He wasn't just a great trapper, he was a great man!

I am glad I met him at Minktoberfest. I remember watching him give a Fox demo many years ago at a Pennsylvania Trappers Convention.

Like alot on here coming up in the fur boom era his was probably some of the first lure's i bought, always loved his coon #2. A 2.50 bottle of lure to catch 20 dollar coon, my how times have changed. Our path's somehow never crossed so i never got the chance to meet him. Had his books too and learned alot from him. Sad we are losing not just good trappers but so many men of integrity. Mo Fenner, Jepson, Slim and now Russ. All the great one's of our past are fading away quickly.

I met Russ when Ivan White asked me to deliver some glands to him. Ivans idea of "some glands ", was more like a lot and they were thawing and growing in the June heat! They were original ! RIP

Thanks to Russ I became the best fox trapper I could be. Long before YouTube it was books. Learing is much easier now. I’m glad I learned the old fashioned way. Seemed like I earned it. Thanks Russ. RIP my friend.

Im not 100% sure but think I was paying 1.25 for his lures at one time. Great man, great lures. I met him a couple times and wish I could have rode with him just one day in the 70s, would've knocked years off my learning curve.
