Opinions on painting or semi textured undercoating for undercoating the body. Im not talking about a hack job. But throughly cleaned and done right. Pros and cons?
I plan on soundproofing to the max. So the inside of panels and floors will have a sound deadening mat and spray inside of panels applied. I want the inside quiet.
How should the underbody be done. This will not be a show car, but neither a daily driver. A full resto job done right and only driven on good days and occasionally entered into small shows.
Thanks for your opinions.
72 Nova SS all number matching car.

I'd spray 2 -3 coats of black epoxy on the underside...or roll or brush it on..

Would Not use any rubberized under coating at all ...just the epoxy.

You want to be able to see if some rust is starting down the road...

That undah coating just hides the sins.

Fluid film seeps in-between panels....wool wax is a heavier application

For coating frames and floor pans

Nessmuck, does brushing on the epoxy result in great results or does it look cheap and tacky?
Is eastwood or sems the best.
Not able to spray paint large areas like the bottom.
Not a fan of POR15.

I brushed on my paint so it was thicker than spraying. And u can see the brush strokes, but its gloss black. Probsbly should have used semi or flat. And I'm not a body guy, maybe it was too thick, maybe I had too much to drink? Or both.

About ten years ago, I had a guy contact me about buying beeswax. He needed eight pounds. He said he uses it to undercoat vehicles. I’ve kept bees since 1974, I’ve never heard of using beeswax to rustproof a vehicle. I had ten pounds of dark wax in the garage, gave him a good deal on it .

I could see where it might work well, but keeping the wax fluid and going through a spray gun might be a problem.

If someone lays on the ground and looks under your car and says

A negative comment...just kick him in the nuts while he's down there.

I think kbs makes the best underbody paint on the market. I think smooth paint is better than textured coatings because it cleans off better. Fluid film annually is cheap insurance too.
