Many take a few years to get to the point of actually getting the big score. These groups have hundreds of thousands invested in "real" looking and working websites and apps that show returns on small investments but the results are inputed by the so called girlfriend or boyfriend. A few savy computer techs, a few good looking females, a few good looking guys, a dating profile and they can fleece millions of dollars from people who are normally very cautious individuals. Real people will call, video chat, email and do everything a normal online relationship does except for the "help" investing.
Be careful out there. I don't want anyone losing their life savings or their life in presuit of love, or money.
Talk to your friends and family about these, and don't think it cant happen to you. They are very good at what they do. If you are in one now, please cut and run, the money is gone and any more invested will be gone as well.
a friends mom was getting along good with this guy online , she ended up figuring it out , but a lot of people don't
she compared notes with someone else and it was the exact same guy working over several women.
had a family member who was chatting with a guy online , seemed good , then he asked if they wanted to make a little money , it was a bit coin straw buy operation , they target women with lower self confidence , talk them up for weeks maybe even months , there is always some reason they can't meet in person.
they said no I can't do bit coin and started thinking it over and asked anther family member what the knew about bitcoin stuff , he was able to very clearly explain what a bit coin mule was and if she did that she was looking at potential jail time for being a bit coin mule.
that was just before tax time , you are on the hook for all the taxes on a bit coin transaction if you make it not paying is tax fraud/evasion.
my life rule stands , other than a few reputable online retailers like MTP , F&T , Midway , Brownelles , ect...
If you can't put a bullet in their face they have no skin in the game and can't be trusted.
