I bet there is still a freezable amount of moisture in that dirt. I dont trust any open air ground contact soil to use directly on the trapline. If that is all you can find you do what you have to do.

I think I nearly destabalized a bridge like that in Missouri back in the 80's when it rained most every day of a two week run.

I didn't know it is legal to remove bridge dirt. Being a bridge builder I guess I think of that kind of stuff.
