When the family started in sheep, we got 6 lambs from a flock in Nebraska. They mowed a 5 ft wide swath. Only problem was it meandered all over the place in the yard ... not to the wife's satisfaction. frown I ended up mowing the yard anyway.

Aje you may want to look into the polly electric goat fencing. I have been using it foe years and it is great and you can fence a lot bigger area that 4 cattel or got panels.

I've thought about electric fencing.
It'd probably be quicker
I might be too shaded for the solar option

No Mow May is going well so far. I don't like to mow, so almost any excuse not to mow is good.

We need rain to make the grass grow. They say it is coming and I have my fingers crossed.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Keith

I've been avoiding mowing in the late evening, and it's really helped. Once the grass is wet it wants to pile up and makes a mess of the mower.

We've all seen the lawns where the soil is so dead that it's just a bunch of sorry, overgrown crabgrass. But give it some time and let the coneflower, goldenrod, and bee balm start coming up and I can't wrap my head around what part of letting God's creation a little closer to your home offends you so much. I mow 10 feet from the house to keep snakes and bugs away and that's it, but part of what makes this country great is that we can make those choices for our own homes. Exercising that freedom doesn't sound very socialist to me!

I have a customer who had the "NO Mow" people on either side of him. Last year they both got lyme from all the ticks in their high grass.

I'm always amazed that people who claim to enjoy and love the out of doors are unable to see the advantages of a more natural environment.
We hear about the decline of birds and bugs, but still we keep our lawns mowed, herbicided and pesticided, killing the bugs and depriving the birds of food.

Please don't rationalize it by cries of ticks, no see-ums and what ever boogie man your afraid of.

How do you get by when your out hunting/fishing/trapping?

My house sits in 3 acres of extremely lovely prairie grasses and flowers.
The flowers that bloom from spring into fall are always changing.
At time the bees are so numerous that I can hear them from inside the house.
It full of life. Unlike a dead dull and drab lawn.

No ticks or no see-ums or even mosquitos.

Hit it with the weed whacker June 1 or 2, didn't mow one time in May.
