Those robotic devices are neat. My surgeon friend told me he can see capillaries, and the device is dead-solid steady. No quiver at all. What is scary is that the surgeon does not even have to be in the operating room.

Good luck on the surgery

It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.

My wife's hip replacement was done with a robot. Went very well, quick recovery. Hopefully, your experience will be the same. Prayer sent.

Wife told me to put on clean socks every day. I tried, but after 7 days, I could hardly get my shoes on.

I had one about the same size tom. Had it repaired last September. The robot makes it a piece of cake.
Good luck !

I've had an umbilical hernia for decades. It has slowly gotten bigger. Now that I've lost about thirty pounds it is much more noticeable.

I guess I should figure the best time to be out of action for a while and schedule a repair.

I've read a fair amount about the issues they were having with the mesh. There are even some lawsuits. It's a bit concerning.

Here's wishing you a speedy recovery Bogmaster.

Eh...wot?

The new mesh is a lot different. The old stuff was like chicken wire ))) . The new stuff is Polypropylene if I remember what the doc said. The old stuff would move. The new stuff actually allows the tissue to grow into it preventing it from moving. That is why they don't want you lifting more than 10 pounds for 6 weeks or engaging in gymnastic competition so that it has a chance to stabilize and allow tissue to attach

Good luck Tom, but you have it wrong they are not the golden years, they are the metallic years, silver in your hair, gold in your teeth, and lead in your butt.
