I like thwm they eat the redenta and kink snake will eat the copper heads. So they all get a pass as long as they are not in or around the chicken coop. I always instinctively pull away fast when I see a snake unexpected. Heck 2 weeks ago I pulled back when I saw one of those large tan skins with red areas. All I saw was its head at first and misd said snake and pulled the dog back.

Probably a lot different than needing to call someone and to afraid to go back in the house.

Not sure what a "kink" snake is but by your description I think it is what we call a king snake?

Don't like to be surprised by them but they don't bother me much otherwise.

I beg to differ. Those buggers always make me jump when I see them but I have no issue with them once I know they are there and will even catch them. Id say thats just a little bit lol.

Update. Snake showed back up. He is truly unbelievably scared of them. Did not help it was 5-6 feet long. I killed it for him. Leaving him out in the yard did nothing to help him confront his fear in spite of my assurances that snake could not harm him.

Maybe foolish but unless the snake is bigger than I am no fear, catching skinning and tanning rattle snakes for hat bands and belts is profitable

Can't have a scary snake post without some pics of snakes. This little guy was trying to get its photo during prom pics. My daughter and her friends were real impressed. Not really. lol.

Thats leaf litter on an old abandoned road. It seemed to like that.

It was a common black snake. No need for pictures. We have timber rattlers here (rare) copperheads (almost rare) pygmy rattlers here and there. Timber bites are bad news, real bad. copperhead and pygmies not so much.

Now that's funny. Critters that can actually kill and eat me give me the willies. Those that can't I play with.

I’m not afraid of them but I kill them pretty easily as I despise them.

They are on the landscape for a reason and i leave them alone if they give me room. Venomous ones go see their maker if i got a tool. My wife is terribly afraid of all of them. To the guy that was talkin about grizzlys id wade thru cottonmouths before id step in a grizzlys house lol. Whatever one gets used to in their area i guess.

I’ve always had a deep hatred for snakes. When I began work in Texas, some of the ranches were so thick with rattlesnakes that you quickly face and lose the basic fears. Although from time to time one would remind you in the middle of the night, deep in the mesquite, in crotch high grass to watch your step. The next were big bee nests in the river cane. My last year down there, the top fear shifted to black widows. There was quite the explosion of them being found more often on the back of ranch gate locks and lock wheels than in the past. The noisy nope noodles have fallen far to the bottom of the list now that Alpha-gal from the lonestar ticks has become so prevalent. A life without red meat, let alone bacon……. Now that’s a true fear.

Found this little king snake under some old plastic behind my shop. I was tickled to see the little guy. Haven’t seen a king snake in a long time.
