In latest F-F-G . . . ..

Though I'd think the cardboard would get tore up during each catch. Maybe replace with sheet metal piece same size and zip tie in place?

I'm thinking a length of 3/8" or 1/2" rebar thru the wire in front of the pan and about 3" off the floor would work, too.

Foot guides in cage traps.
Call it what you want but someone is thinking.
The cardboard give em something to do until
you get there.

Cameras and this web show us problems we
did not know we had lol.

Last winter I had two on cam
that would not get cage caught.
I did not make it my mission,
just observation.

I know this is a skunk cage, but the theory works the same with any cage. Make augit basket and hang your bait on the back wall. Where they can't reach through or or behind the PAN above and they will see the white in the night. And it can move in the wind and they can't foil it.They're always in the cage when you hang your bait

Years ago I was the nuisance trapper for a state park here in WI. I ran 42 cage traps daily for 'coon. Best technique I found was to hang a plastic beer cup in the back of the cage with mix of loud ground fish and jack mack in it. It hung from an S-hook made from 14 ga wire. Once the 'coon was in the trap the plastic beer cup gave it something to do. And that plastic really showed up in the dark with any kind of moon.

I ran a threaded rod through mine where they have to pass over or under to throw them off balance and it’s worked every time for years and I’m not a fan of cage traps
