I think it might be time to hang it up on the wall. You really don't want that thing blowing up on you.

Ask at Leatherwall.com. They Will have an answer! Probably tell you to get some thin superglue to run into the cracks.

I'd hang it up and cherish the memories.

Wood bows are fickle mistresses. I've had them last thousands of arrows and I've had them explode with no warning.

I always thought it interesting archery folks won't wear safety glasses , even 4H , scouts and archery in the schools do not require them.

just this spring I had one of the instructors was shooting his bow at home and it broke something about a cam wheel , it came all undone on him at high speed and he did suffer an eye injury

the risk may be low but it is definitely not zero

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

With wooden bows, most of the time the pieces go away from you, but I've had some came back and hit me. The most common one for me when a bow breaks at almost full draw, is punching myself in my cheek.

rex,

Please don't risk it.

The old long bow can come apart in a very violent way, resulting in severe injury.

Loosing your eye(s) are not worth the risk.

Put the old bow up on the wall as a decoration and conversation piece.

If you want to shoot again and enjoy the sport, purchase a new long bow.

Just my unsolicited 2 cents worth of gibberish.

I agree. I wood bow with cracks is done. It would be interesting to see a photo.

I broke a bunch of bows in a row when i first started building some and a bowyer friend of mine told me this.

“If you’re not breaking bows, you’re not making bows”. I always think of that when these topics come up. Selfbows have a lifespan if they are being used. Some shorter then others
