Grandson and me just dug a bunch. Great bait. Everything eats them. Never seen them except around here. Find em around big groves of soft maple on the Wakarusa between Clinton lake and the Kaw river. Marais Des Cygne between Ottawa and and The two up stream reservoirs. Anybody else dig them? Anybody know other locations for them? They are not catalpa worms. Have to dig them up. Kinda wad up when you put them in your palm and have a strong odor.

Just did a little research and it looks like these. Amynthas hupeiensis, or green stink worms...thought to be an Asian species, they are dark green, coil up when disturbed and smell bad

Theres another one thats similar, A chlorotica , but has 3 sucker like "pads" underneath...

Do you happen to find orange, yellow, blue and purple ones there also? If so, I might have an idea. Not good though.

There's a green worm, that's native to Europe, that's been introduced to the US. It stays in the top few inches of soil. As kids, we used to catch them in pits we stored clay balls for fighting in, under the leaves we put the balls in. They were good bait and looked like the worm in your picture.
