You got any?

We had a very cold, and ice covered winter here, cold spring so far too..set a short string of pots in my best early spring spots and boy was it poor....bad winters here usually cause bad winter kill as we're at the northern edge of blue crab country....
just wondering how it's been by you....

My youngest has 600 pots out now in the lower Chesapeake Bay…weather hasn’t been good…chilly and windy…he went this morning and had to come back after checking one line..said he got blown back in and he has a 38’ Deadrise.

Couple weeks ago he was bringing in about 20 bushels primarily sooks…peeler run has hit now.

vinke is just messing with you since he thinks we have a superior crab in the north Pacific: Dungies.

A survey recently found that the blue crab population in the Chesapeake Bay is rebounding. Hope NC will see the same.

If we could only get our crabs the size of Louisiana crabs or Louisiana crabs to taste like ours we’d be in tall cotton.

Let's see some pictures from out on the water. I always like to see other types of fisheries other than the one I'm involved with.

That looks about a Canadian as they come.
No wonder they are different……

Last time I ate them I picked a pile of them and put them in a bowl to eat them all at once instead of eating then as I picked them. I still didn't enjoy them all that much. The memory of how much work that it required for little reward haunted me as I ate them.
Full disclosure, I am not good at picking crabs, and the ones which I picked were on the small side.
I do find that deep fried soft-shelled blue crabs are about the best thing that there is to eat.

Blue Crabs are native to the East Coast from the Gulf of America up into Canada. The green crabs are invasive.
