A honeybee swarm moved into my steel garbage bin today. Mostly filled up with bags of household garbage. Must have liked the smell.

I honey'd up some frames and put them in a western super that was extracted late last year. Guess I will wait until tomorrow to see if they moved in. My bet is yes.

Must be that time of year

Had 2 swarms in my yard this spring. One in a bush that I hit with lawn mower! Chaos but no stings, did a wheelie on the zero turn getting away from there.

Well, the ornery critters didn't go into the hive box, so this morning I did the best I could scooping them up and putting them in there. Going to leave the hive box to pick up the stragglers today and move it tomorrow morning bright an' early. Hopefully they don't move back out into the garbage bin during the day. Seen things like that happen before.

If you move the queen dont the rest follow on their own?
Or could the queen move on her own somewhere else after?

Problem is I was dumpster diving at the bottom of a steel bin. Hard to pick out the one with the big butt under the circumstances, so I just scooped up all the bees I could. Looks like I got her in there because they've all moved into the hive box in the last half hour. I'll let them be for today and move the box to where I want it tomorrow morning.

Feeling pretty good about things a this is the 7th swarm I've got this spring. All moved into my equipment on their own save for this last one.

You’ll be selling honey at that there hippie market soon? Might have to visit it more often.

I find if I stuff the entrance with grass clippings, I mean really plug it, few go back to where you hived the swarm. Takes them a while to work their way out and it seems to make them set the new location.

They all have taken to the hive box I placed now. Hopefully moving them about a 1000 feet away is far enough tor them to take to a new spot.

Backed up to the boat to go fish one time and a basketball size group was trying to stuff themselves into the trailer tubing. My wife knew a lady from her work that messed w bees she smoked them out and collected them. It was interesting
