Kish75 post (Vertical Fleshing Beam) got me thinking of my beam and how I settled on a Horizontal Fleshing Beam.
I'm in my mid 70's age wise and have fleshed vertical, reaching upward and fleshing downward. Also fleshed with beam angled on frame, bent over and fleshing downward. I've fleshed both ways for many years.

18-20 years ago, I visited friend Randy Mohn, Bradford County, Pa. and he showed me his fur shed. Randy had back problems. His beam was mounted horizontal, so he had less stress on lower back while fleshing. That made sense to me.
Next weekend, I built a small 'fur table' to mount a homemade Horizontal Beam.

I do like a horizontal beam.
I keep moving hide towards me as I flesh, meaning less leaning or reaching.

I measured how high my stomach was from floor so when I built table I could get end of beam same height as my stomach-

I made a slot for beam to fit into. This makes taking it down during the off season easy-

Horizonal beam also becomes fur holder or some place to sit your beer-

This is my setup. Just showing another option to flesh.

I know a guy with back problems who use a setup like that. He fleshes while sitting on a rolling stool.
