On my way to work on the long drive i tend to veg out and my mind runs random things. Today it was handy tools often over looked. I thought about my wheel barrel. I bought that blue Jackson around 22 years ago when mixing concrete by hand for side walks. Back then I was broke and I remember thinking how expensive the wheel barrel was.

22 years later its still being used. I have replaced the handles 2 or 3 times and the wheel with a solid one once but its still going. Money well.spent on an ofter abused left out in the rain tool I would immediately replace if it becomes non functioning. Probably some of the best value pre use items I have ever bought that makes life much easier and more productive.

What are some of your useful tools often over looked you have gotten your money work and wont go without?

tooth brush ZERO cavities in 63 years. Took that money saved on dental visits paid for my new truck. !!!

A good bench vise, never know when you will need it but you will. And you will be happy you have it.

Pocket knife and pliers.

Am anvil to go with the bench vise.

Chainsaw(or axe),use it all year round and carry it most of the time on the trapline.
And a come along to go with it.

A good 4 inch vise for shop, a strong metal table that is heavy to not be moved around while working with the vise, a decent set of dykes for wire cutting, safety glass's that won't scratch if you set them on your worktable and push stuff around them

Long nose pliers with a point that won't bend when using them !
Same with a general set of pliers that will actually grip when you squeeze them to use !

Just a start, probably get this mighty long in a day or so, from others adding !!

I pulled a old metal wheelbarrow from the trash driving through town and re-bolted it on with some new hardware. Put a new wheel on it and use it a ton.

I saw hammer several years ago that had a notch and a magnet on it to hold a nail so on the fist swing you don't hit your thumb and it struck me as odd. A hammer might be one of the oldest tools known to man. I just couldn't imagine someone improving it like that within in the last 20 years.

My grandpa sure did a lot of ranching over many years with pretty much just a hammer and pair of fencing pliers. A Leatherman type tool has to be pretty high on the list.

I bet its been 15-20 years ago i bought a metric and standard set of stanley allen wrench socket sets. Not sure how i havent lost one but they are handy.
