I started using wyze cam v4. Wired cameras, not too expensive ~$30+/-. They do a good job, just need wifi to enable to your phone. No subscription or cloud needed.
That's for residential work obviously. If you're out in the field for k9's or beaver, you'll need a cell cam.

You can put a card in the bink cameras for monitoring purposes.
Bink systems are cheap.
If you need wifi for reporting, ask the homeowner to set up a guest password on their network.
I have phones though my business account that are used as hotspots when wifi is not available.
Comcast/ others have pubic wifi available in many areas for a price.

I have a couple Reveal X 2.0 for a couple years now and have been very pleased with them. They are cellular and cost $5 per camera a month. You can take on demand pictures or motion activated. You can turn pictures into videos clips too. You control them from an app on your phone.

I purchased some external battery box set ups from herd 360 for my reveals, that run off a 12v and tried them out the past year. I had some of herd 360 10 ah battery’s and cheaper decent equivalent ones from Amazon. All lithium. One of my cameras would take a few hundred pics a night with video if I wanted and I think I only had to change the battery no more than 2x the whole fall and winter. Highly reccomend.

The picture quality is good, videos are very good and helpful to see how the animals work a cage. If I'm checking multiple traps with one camera I often will wire a utility flag to the set door of a cage to be able to see if the door is open or closed, the plastic flags show up good at night with the infrared flash. Battery life is good in my opinion. I use the blue Thunderbolt AA batteries from Harbor freight which I found are as good as Energizer or Duracell for less than half the price. I would say I get a couple months of use out of 12AA in warm weather, I don't take a lot of pictures with the motion detection though, I mainly take on demand picture to check my traps so that save a lot of unneeded picture taking and battery consumption. When I use the cameras in the winter and it's below freezing they go considerably faster
