Anyone ever shipped a box of ammunition? Was it a pain? expensive? Thx

I believe to be completely legal it has to be declared and can only be shipped as hazardous material. Of course one could also say to use the Obama phrase don't ask don't tell but then you're hanging yourself out to dry if caught.

if you ship ammo as part of your regular dealings and the UPS man stops at your place for pickups often not so much of a pain.

Figured it would be a pain, and yes just one box of shotgun shells

Pretty sure the box needs the hazardous sticker on 2 sides and can only be shipped through UPS, maybe fed ex....

probably cheaper to send money to buy new wherever it's going...

I attempted to ship some ammo via UPS a couple of years ago. I followed the exact instructions for UPS in GREENCOUNTYPETE's link, following every specification for packaging and labeling. I took the box to our UPS location in Baraboo. They said no way. They told me I should take it to a UPS store in Madison. We never bothered.

If you use UPS, make sure you take it to a location that will accept it. This is a quote directly from the UPS website instructionc for shipping...

"Cartridges, small arms may be shipped only through a UPS Scheduled Pickup Account using various UPS pickup services or through a UPS Customer Center (counters at UPS operational facilities)."

The UPS Customer Center in Baraboo had that exact title on a sign outside their door! When they told me they would not ship my package, I walked outside, reread the sign and showed them the website instructions, including the name of the type of UPS facility. They were stumped. They said they couldn't process the transaction on their register if they tried.

Blak Spot, if you live near the right type of UPS facility AND they have a phone number you can call, you may want to confirm that they will take your package before you try. Good luck!

As I understand it: Write "ORM-D" on the box and it's supposed to ship normally.

Live on the edge with a fictitous name & address....Declare it as ball bearings, and cross your fingers!

Big bob is correct. Must be marked ORM-D. They gave me the stickers at the ups office when I shipped. Back when ammo was stupidly expensive I sold a good but on gun broker. Do not ship as hazardous. You have to have a license to do so. I won’t ship primers for that reason.

Here in central Nebraska, I can ship from the UPS terminal with the stickers attached. The UPS store is a no-go.
