POLICE HANDCUFF INNOCENT STUDENT AS HE BLEEDS OUT FROM SAVAGE STABBING — DYING MAN PLEADS FOR HELP WHILE ATTACKER’S FAMILY MOCKS HIM AS “RACIST”
Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old first-year university student at the University of Southampton studying accountancy and finance, was fatally stabbed in the early hours of 3 December 2025 in Portswood, Southampton.
He had been walking home after a night out with friends when he encountered Vickrum Singh Digwa, 23. Nowak filmed Digwa openly carrying a large ceremonial kirpan (a Sikh religious blade). According to the prosecution, Digwa stabbed Nowak multiple times — including a fatal chest wound puncturing a lung and wounds to his back and legs — as the student tried to escape.
After the attack, Digwa called his mother (who is charged with assisting an offender by allegedly hiding the knife) and then rang police claiming he was the victim of a racial attack.
When officers arrived, they found Henry bleeding heavily, pleading “I’ve been stabbed, I can’t breathe.” Instead of giving immediate aid, police handcuffed and arrested the dying student based on the attacker’s allegation.
Henry collapsed while in custody and was pronounced dead at the scene. Neighbours heard him desperately insisting he had been stabbed. Bodycam footage played in court has intensified public fury over the response.
Digwa denies murder and claims self-defence, alleging Nowak was drunk, racially abusive, and tried to grab his kirpan. The trial at Southampton Crown Court is ongoing.
This was a brutal, unprovoked killing of a kind, talented young man on his way home. The sight of police cuffing a bleeding-out innocent while the attacker’s family allegedly mocked him as a “racist” and told him to “get up” is beyond shocking. A tragic death compounded by a disgraceful aftermath that demands full answers.
