Yes Sir! Agree 100%. I drill a pilot hole for all of my anchors to make it easier to drive but to also avoid unessacary stress on the stake while driving the anchor. Doing this i have still had the issue and it is directly related to the pics posted above.

I’ve used every stake on the market except duckbills. Having moved over and over I changed my stake system based on my soil. The only thing I can drive in the ground here is rebar and superstakes. The ground here laughs at wolf fangs. I’ve never seen any of these superstakes. I don’t doubt they exist and it seems to be another splinter in MTP manufacturing.

I have never paid it any attention, but will now. I thought it strange that my chain always brakes at the farthest link while pulling, it never occurred to me that it might be the anchor. I have no intention of changing, but will inspect and weld any that need it. Thank you for the heads up.

I would prefer to not change myself, as they work good for me when they are properly made stakes. However, having a faulty stake it unacceptable.

Crack/Defect on the connecting piece.

Porosity (Air Pockets/holes) unsolidified casting

Completly hollow, no solid cast end.

Going through 300 new, just ordered super stakes. Fast forward 3 years from this original post and its the same problems. Poor quality control, manufacture junk and sell it to the masses. No pride in producing a quality product trappers can depend on. No consideration for the great potential of stakes breaking and animals running around with traps on them (bad pr).

These came from F & T, so after i get a count on how many are bad, I will give them a shout. Highly considering have my own line of quality earth anchors very similar to this product made for myself and offering the for sale to the public. A guy needs gear he can depend on.

This problem had cost me a ton of money & time (money), for years now.

FWIW, over the last few years i have had dozen’s of anchors break at the connecting hole while pulling, and drivers go through the side of the anchor from porosity (holes or thin wall on the casting).

I wonder why you purchased 300 of them after having issues before.

being cast, its subject to the casting process and the low wage operator who could care less...and doing it as cheap as possible.... I know you like them but you may need to reconsider...that's a LOT of failures

All of mine were purchased during the Covid era. Supply chain issues and quality control were an issue for many products and manufacturer’s. Nancy Caven told me they were having issues even getting them from one manufacturer’s and sent me a batch of good stakes to make up for my problem stakes.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt, beleiving the issue would be resolved by summer 26. 44 out of 300 didnt make the cut.

Their isnt a stake on the market that will hold use to hardcore repetitive use. These are the closest to that, but still arent cutting the mustard. Time for a change

Gcs, you are correct there. Im in the process of contacting potential manufacturers to see about having a superior, Made in USA product made.

I have and use the superstakes, but moving more and more towards wolf fangs.

I found about 2 out of every dozen had a defect when I inspected the last batch and decided enough was enough.
