Carl - your mail box is full. Clean it out so I can tell you values on your cats. Unless you want me to post them here.

Belly colour/clarity.
A are clear B are slightly off.C are Off and D are badly off.
That said the last sale the A_B brought premium prices but the others sold very well also.

I think with bobcats it refers to how wide the white spotted part of the belly is.

My lots and grades are up to date. It was interesting to see my Pa. Red fox which always graded as Eastern are now identifying as Central this year.

Interesting BP. Never seen the “not graded” thing.

99999 bar code fell off on two cats so during the process...."who-is who's"
Good luck beaverpeller.

Shakey was too busy on here to go out and catch 1000 marten, but I did.....well at least in the flea count and the cheque is in the mail already for them.

Thank you for making my point. You said it, they will never take measures to update the trapper experience. You regularly spout off about it being trapper owned, as a trapper you should demand better. If that was really true, it should be set up as a coop so the trappers share in the profits. Other posts have made it clear, that never happens. I am far from a techie but you sure can call me what you want. Setting the tech topic aside, please tell me what they have to gain by not posting the drumming fees? I guess you just go to the car dealership and sign a check without checking what fees they are charging.

Maybe some should start their own auction, they seem to know how it's done. It's a free country isn't it? Or just send fur somewhere else where it'll wind up in NB anyway.......lol
Drumming fee? Calculate it on your receipt with some simple math. It's little different every time. Sometimes I've got 8 wolf, sometimes 3. They don't lump the marten with the wolf and everything else in one giant sideways rolling grain silo. With a little imagination, you might be able to figure out why they don't have a number in their terms.

I can't believe everyone complaining about FHA doesn't just sell to the local buyers, that is the route I recommend for them.

Drumming fees at the end of the day are miniscule.

Minuscule is not the word I would use to describe drumming fees. And why not post exactly what those fees are for the type of fur being drummed?

Eh...wot?

The board of directors (who represent the trappers/owners) decide where the profits go.
The financial well being of the company is the primary concern,Marketing fur for the trappers, and getting the most buyers possible from all over the world to bid on our fur is second and of course upkeep mtc of facilities and make sure all other expenses to run the company are covered for well in the future so a bad year or two will not result in the loss of the trappers company.
If it is fiscally responsible to issue ROCs in the future the Board of directors (the guys the trappers put there to look after our intrests) will make that decision. With the way the fur market fluctuates over the last decade or more I doubt you will see the operating funds depleted thru RPCs in the near future.FHA learned a good lesson from the OTA days and will never go down the irresponsible road that the ranch house (NAFA) went.
You have a director on the board-call him up and tell him about your concerns,or better yet attend the AGM and make your concerns known to the membership who attend and vote each year.
I doubt you will convince too many there to your uninformed way of thinking Smaltz.
Maybe run as the US director?

When you say you doubt that the operating funds will be depleted thru RPC's what exactly do you mean? That they will not be making any payments in the near future?

There used to be a set schedule for drumming fees. So much per pelt based on species. Cost more to drum a wolf than it does a marten. The schedule was clearly published.

I will look into this AFTER things settle down from the auction. Now is not the time to bother the hard working crew in NB!!

I don’t think that is the case anymore wissmiss.

I think they must charge drumming fees based on a percentage. I have no idea how that percentage is arrived at, who sets it or if it varies.

Apparently, the amount charged for drumming is determined at the discretion of the FHA. That's why there are no predetermined amounts listed

Last year they charged me $15.91 to drum 28 red fox that I was paid $188.00 for. That was 8.47% of my total and came to about $0.57 per fox.

Eh...wot?

It is 1.1 % total of my last 3 checks so I will stick with miniscule.

How about thoughts on how the actual sale goes. Is anything going to surprise? I’m crossing my fingers on mink staying high. Thought mine graded extremely well. Is the rat market going to strengthen? Will all the coon sell and at at least in the range of March. I think red fox may surprise. Beaver will stay strong imo

iI believe they only charge the drumming fee once the goods sell. If you have goods unsold they will not charge the drumming fee until sold.
