I just got my Nicks boots back from them, they put new heels on and eyelet’s the work was good if anyone is needing boots fixed or shoes and other stuff their nice people and do good work, here’s a link to a website with their info on it.

The guy in Ames wouldn’t fix them so I googled it and they came up, in an old store with old machines so they’ve been there awhile and treated me really well. Yeah lefty it’s hard to find them today.

These guys have been around for a long time in northern Iowa.

When I was growing up mom took me to old "Charlies" shoe shop for all our shoes and repairs. Old German fella. Old Charlie knew his stuff. Nothing he couldn't fix. He was old when I was young.

I don't know of any other tradesman practicing their shoe craft like he did. Would be nice to have a business like that locally. Probably be cheaper to buy new boots or shoes at todays labor prices.

My Grandfather was a German shoemaker, specialized in orthopedic shoes, handmade 1 pair at a time...he later opened a shoe repair findings business servicing local shoemakers, there was still quite a few in the 60's..
I can only think of 1 shoemaker that might still be in business, maybe, the old timers are all gone, which is a shame but there's no money or future in it , people just buy new cheap shoes anymore..If you still have a good shoemaker count your blessings....

My grandfather went to them for a pair of boot years ago and liked them, I didn’t realize they were still in business, I don’t go to buffalo center much anymore, I should as I should go see my relatives more.
