You experts, what does it take to run a 7 cu per 24 hrs. Panel size,.battery capabilities,..perhaps occasional gas fed gen.
Would it be necessary, " even to fore-go and just run gen power"?

Easier thing to do is remove/bypass the thermostat and put a honda generator on it for several hours and get it to about 30 below, then throw an old sleeping bag over the freezer, and fire up the generator for an hour or so once every two or three days.

Insignia upright 7.1 cu. ft freezer, [115 Vac, 60 Hz, 1.5 A] estimated yearly energy use ~ 333kwh/yr ( 1000wh/day) ... About $50/yr ($0.14/day)

Sizing is a question of location (amount and intensity of sunlight), potential weather conditions, type of panels used, panel maintenance, ect ...

Solar for a single appliance is hard to cost justify IMHO.

If your wanting to take one trapping, even in much of the south it cools off pretty good at night. Leave fur laid out over night. Put it in the freezer of a morning. Fire up the generator in the morning for an hour or so while you get ready for the day. It will keep like that. If needed run for an hour in the evening. May take two three days to freeze but it will be cold enough the stuff not froze will still keep.

Do a search for "bypassing chest freezer thermostat".
You'll find sveral of them, just skip the timer installation, you want it to run continuosly.

My hunting property is off grid. I have solar on the garage and deer blind. The garage runs security cameras, starlink internet and a mini fridge 24/7. There's a microwave and air fryer and lights that are used when I'm down there.

The garage was 3.6 kw of panels and two 100ah 48v LiFePO4 batteries. That's way overkill for the normal use. If I knew how much extra power I'd have, I would have gotten a full size fridge/freezer.
