I don't usually bother cleaning northerns but I caught a good one today so I filleted it and chunked it up. Boiled it in regular 7UP and dipped it in butter. It was excellent poor man's lobster.

I'm going fishing, mostly for catfish, on Indian Lake on Wednesday, with my friend Stan. Hopefully I get something to try boiling too.

Cousin Savell should go catch some clean living, good old Texan fish, rather than supporting the Chinese Communist Party's "turd trout".

My favorite memory growing up as a kid in the 80's was going to the American Legion to watch my dad play slow pitch softball. You could get a fish sandwich for $0.50. Two smashed pieces of white bread with a big deep fried buffalo side in between them. Snow cones were 10 cents,..the same amount of money they would give you for snagging a foul ball. Man those were the days..

My friend Stan and I went to Lake Erie, instead of Indian Lake. We hooked probably a little over 200 pounds of catfish. I also caught two spawned out drums. We threw all the cats over 28" back and released some others. I brought close to 80 pounds home of catfish home and the two drums. Most of the cats I kept were just under 28 inches. I think all were females. I got a full large pan and a partial of fillets, probably close to 30 pounds total. I'm wore out, but had a good time. I didn't sleep last night.

Most of the catfish we caught were between 7 and 14 pounds.
