I know Williams cages (Indiana) no long exists but I thought long legacy cage traps took over Williams. Do some searching I can’t find Long legacy now. Does anyone know if someone is making the Williams cage traps?

Bump.......I was hoping to find out myself.

An Internet search turns up original announcement here on t-man, and if memory serves new guy Jake had a faceplant page setup.......which is now gone. But searches also turn up references, with a phone number. I'd find that number and see if anyone answers and what they have to say.

I also remember looking very hard to even find a picture of a Williams to see how they were made and did find one very poor one.....back then. Today.....nothing. But what I remember was the Williams was very similar in design to the Wickenkamps.

But also frustrating when what most consider a superior design, superior built product falls to wayside when inferior stuff seems to survive.

The door design was one of the best. 2 rings slid down when the door closed and if you needed to release something you could turn the trap on its top the rings would slid down and the door would open

That is how the Wickenkamp works.....a gravity drop door with sliding bar / rings. In fact, they come with a brace rod to pin the trap down so animal can't flip it over.......because door falls open if it does. Does make it easy to release an animal and it gives a coon something to play with while he waits for you to come get him. He will still be there when you do. He is not getting out on his own.

I agree, Duke builds a trap similar to the Williams. A little lighter constructed, but for the price a great trap.

Friend of mine had traps with the sliding rings years ago, I don't know if he bought them from a builder or had them made locally, this was long before Duke's version. So that design has been around....
