Guys, I’m making my own expanded pans for my #2 and # 11 longs and now they are extremely light to fire … I know light pan tension is pretty much the deal when it comes to mink,,, but would that be way too light??
Should I bend the dog up a tad to increase the tension???
I used a barker mink pan as a template and used dollar store spatulas for the metal and cut them using a cutoff wheel and riveting them to the pan.

Put a Miles trigger notchs in the dog and pan
It will increase pan tension the deeper you make the V, so start small with the notchs
It will also take away some of the side to side wiggle

As long as wave/ripple action doesnt set them off you should be OK. I would venture to say millions of Mink have been caught with un-modified pans and dogs.

As long as the trap stays set you can’t get too light for mink.

I had to take a picture of a picture to get it loaded..
For some reason it keeps saying my pics were too big

This is the kind of spatula I was cutting the metal from.
It’s a tad stiffer than the metal on a barkers

Still working on getting more coverage towards the dog/trigger area.

I know I can easily buy already made pans,,, but I’m having fun just tinkering.
I like playing with traps
