Shot by a ranch employee actively chasing cattle.

CPW is "investigating" if charges will be filed.

Sounds like a legal act. With plenty of evidence it was justified. Government just doesn't like individuals exercising there legal rights if it goes against their agenda.

Yep.....if the law is on the books......they can kill the rest of 'em when they're near the cattle.

Wolf advocates are gonna have do like the rest of us have to do.......if you don't like the law....get it changed.

In the meantime....tough feces!

Shoot straight ranchers!

Why wouldn't they report it? Did they do anything wrong? Protecting livestock. The public needs to be made aware of this stuff, or they'll be calling for more "reintroduction"

For a free country, there's a lot of SS&S attitudes and fear of the law down there.....lol

while you are free to do what you want
like anywhere else
the law gets misused , abused , and police and judges regularly have an agenda , not all of them but if it is 1% everyone has heard of that story.

I had a youth in shooting sports who wanted to be a DNR warden , he was serios about it until. He was turkey hunting and he shot a tom , just as the trigger was breaking another tom stuck it's head our from behind a big oak where he wasn't even seen and it was directly in line with the first toms head. all on private property.

1 shot , 2 toms about 25 yards apart , an almost impossible shot but it happened only a few pellets even hit that second tom but they hit right in the head.

wanting to do the "right" thing he called it in and explained what happened figured the warden would take the 2nd turkey and donate it to the food pantry or something.

Nope he lost both turkeys and was not treated well and he will NEVER do the "right" thing again. That warden took a kid who was serios about wanting to go to school and become a warden and they broke that.

now there is some question what is the right thing, well we should take a lesson from our ancestors , who fought the crown for our rights.

FIRST it is the burden of the state to prove the guilt of the accused.
SECOND anything you say to the law CAN and WILL be used against you.
it is your right to shut up , it is your right to not self incriminate and it is on the state to prove everything.

so that starts to sound like shut up about anything you did and make them prove you did it now doesn't it.

I am going to guess we could fill a thread with the numerous stories from those here on the forum about them trying to do the "right" thing

as to that "right" right for who the government cause certainly not the officers who would immediately seek union council for anything they did questionable or not who will make limited statements through council only.
SO right for the prosecution to make their jobs easy I suppose.
we should take the lesson from James Madison who wrote the 4th and 5th amendments to the US constitution that is what Right is under the eyes of the constitution.

Admit nothing, deny everything, and make counter accusations...

Anything else opens you up to investigation and prosecution, and for crying out loud, stop bragging on facebook... crazy

If you break the law there are consequences.
It doesnt matter if you broke the law by accident or if you were unaware of a law.
Quite a few people will make a mistake and end up breaking the law.For example, one you hear of here is a hunter with a bull tag accidentally shoots a cow moose or vice versa.
Most will turn themselves in for the mistake, and in court the judge will take into account that it was a mistake and you turned yourself in,the resulting fine is levied and is not a great amount. No hunting rights are lost and you go on your way.
If on the other hand If you decide to try to SSS you might get away with it-but if you are turned in by someone else or an investigation of abandoned game leads to you then when you face the judge you will get the book thrown at you-multiple charges and high fines and loss of hunting privileges sometimes for substantial duration.
So you can do the right thing and turn yourself in or you can play the game and take your chances.
Ethical, responsible people will man up to their mistake.

People here in WI have shot cows, horses and moose claiming they thought they were deer....

Human stupidity knows no bounds or borders.
