Emmett wanted to help with a nuisance beaver job. Put in two footholds last night, picked up one beaver today. Emmett managed to pull up the drowning rod and get the beaver out of the 44 on his own. After that he worked on getting a hole in the dam inside the culvert while I slipped a couple cage traps in the other end. He's coming along pretty good.

Awesome, Sam. He getting muscles with all that physical outdoor training! Keep building those memories.

Nessy, he doesn't need a license yet. I believe he has to pass the trapping course and get a license when he's 12. I could be wrong on the age.

When he was in public school, he got called a liar a few times. One day I pulled up during recess and called him and his buddies over to the fence so they could see all the beavers that "Emmett caught". He was a proud little guy that day, and they didn't question him as much.

Thank you for reminding me of that. It's a good memory for me.

Sam....my boy and I ,use to check traps before school...

Only had maybe 6 traps at this one pond...but had to write

A note why he was late one morning...( 4th grade )..

My son got stuck in some mud with his waders...and couldn't pull out..

And ended up with his butt in the cold water of late November...

Lol...good times !!!

I also kept a diary of those years...with weather..where the traps were set..

And of course stories when we caught something.

Its fun to look back on those pages 25 years later...lol

Two more today. One on either side of the culvert. George had to swim to retrieve one. The boys struggled a bit getting one out of a ts-85.
