Those make good fish and chips. Down here we have a blue gill cousin called the shell cracker that can get even bigger and are easy to git after in Dec and Jan.

You have a limit on blue gill? 20 sunnies per person. Unless it’s a special management lake where they’re trying to bring up the quality of size and many of those lakes it’s 5 or 10. Happy trapping! ScottW

You have a limit on blue gill? I'm not always a fan of some of our limits, but this is one that I'm actually in favor of. Any lake around here with decent panfish gets hit really hard by folks that come from south of us. If we didn't have limits, and especially the special limits that Scott mentioned on our good panfish lakes, I doubt we'd be able to catch a cutting size bluegill anywhere.

Anything 9 inches and above is a big bluegill in my area. Nice catch!
Got a photo from a speeding camera in the mail. I immediately sent it back - way too expensive and really poor quality.

Anything 9 inches and above is a big bluegill in my area. Nice catch! Same here. Theres a lake 15 minutes from me that kicks out 8-9 regularly and i pulled a 10+ out last fall. Id like to think I didnt catch the biggest. Need to get over there this week. All the guys in this state spend hundreds of dollars every weekend chasing our state fish. Too much work and not enough relaxing for me-give me a day chasing gills, crappie or catfish any day over walleye.
