Im looking through some load data and see I have at least 4 powders maybe more( most is at my other house an hour and half away)

I have a box of 180g baliatic tips, to play with in that old mauser I was gifted.

I have a lot of old surplus fmj on stripper clips I will bet the gun is sighted in for and its probably corrosive. Im wanting to work up a good deer load for the gun but am trying to not run down the hundreds of rounds testing loads rabbit hole I used to fall into.

Anyone any good load deer bullet combo that has shot well and the same point of impact or close to the surplus in several old surplus rifles. Seems like 180gr would be about right place to start on a 32 cal . Man does it have a wide bullet weight range listed 125 -220gr.

The thing im going to need to watch will be keeping the velocity in the right range for bullets expantiin design range. A .32 dimater buller desined for higher speed roind wont preform the same at slower speeds.
For example i shoot a 110 gr v max out of my 8.5: 300 black out and it acta like a controld expantion round at the lower speed around 2100 fps vs closer to 4 k fps out of a 06 or 300 win mag . Heck even a 16" black out they come apart like a varmit round from what green county experinced in his 16" blackout.

The 180gr Nosler you have is a good bullet. I use it in the 8x57, 8mm rem mag and 325 win. It is tough enough to hold together even at 3000 fps.

My favorite for the 8x57 is a 170gr round nose. I have a ziplock full of them and think they are Hornady or maybe core lock. Currently have loaded it with 160gr TTSX. They are very accurate and performance is excellent.

IMR 4064 and Varget is all I have ever used but there is a wide variety that should work as it’s not a picky cartridge.

I don't but if I was looking for a decent deer load I would probably start with a Speer #2283 its a .323 170gr soft point bc 0.354 and push it around 2650-2700fps

you aren't pushing any extreems like you are in the 300blk trying to make a pistol do rifle things or the top or bottom end of expansion velocity so it doesn't need to be difficult at all.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

They did make those originally in .318. Later changing.323
It's a good idea to check that first,
IMR 4064 with 170 gran round nose is my bullet choice, Hornady interlock

Depends on the rifle's age - .318 inch - 8.08 mm 8 x57J early Gewehr 1888 commission rifle
.323 inch - 8.22 mm 8 x 57JS adopted in 1905
