I watched a small cow chase 3 whitetail all over my lower pasture this morning. She was serious about it, ears laid back and hair straight up. Only reason I can think of is she has a calf down by the creek. I guess I won't walk that way for a while. laugh

I have been around black and grizzly bear, lions and wolves all my life but a momma moose is the only one that scares the poop out of me. I just let them be, there is nothing down by the creek that I need to see for a couple weeks.

Some years back had a cow and calf down below in the willows along the river. I knew better then to even go near there. She gave me the evil stare one day and that was all it took for me. Those cows are nasty with a calf.

I’ve hunted moose 17 times in Newfoundland. You get one of two licenses…..an either sex ( bull or cow ), the other is a bull or calf.

I asked my buddy there….does anybody ever shoot a calf? Seldom he said. But if someone wants to take a calf, somebody there better have a cow tag too. He wasn’t gonna try to recover a calf without killing the cow. She would put a hurt on you when you’d get close to the calf carcass.

I've had them get pretty snotty in February also. I have also seen their rear up on their hind legs and strike at other moose.

One put me on the roof of my smokehouse one February day. She then stood up and was striking at me with her fronts. I had to whack her a good one with a stout pole to get her to leave

I've never been to AK, but a friend of mine lived in Fairbanks for about 20 years. When I asked him about all the bears up there and how dangerous they were? He surprised me when he said they weren't as dangerous as a cow moose.

Got a photo from a speeding camera in the mail. I immediately sent it back - way too expensive and really poor quality.
