I've replaced multiple vehicle and boat 12v batteries without ever considering electrically insulated gloves. I just picked up a 12v lithium trolling motor battery that says they're required for installation. Is this just legalese or is there a legitimate concern. Your thoughts and experiences are appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm no electrical genius, but what's the difference between 12v out of a lithium battery, compared to any other? sounds fishy to me...

here is my answer , I went to electronics school so this is my based on logic of how the batteries work and what could fail.

lithium batteries are made of many many small cells in that box. the output at the terminals is 12v but high amperage and that isn't really any different than a lead acid battery.

it is also not that uncommon to place those batteries into 24 , 36, 48v and 96v setups at that point you are getting into high enough voltages that you could find danger so for that reason would be my first thought why

second some lawyer and engineer said , but wait , if they broke that box a much higher voltage behind the regulation circuit could be possible so if they have tools we should advise them to wear electrically insulating gloves out of a lawyers abundance of deferring liability.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I just bought a new trolling motor. I considered a lithium battery. But, the cost is much higher and you need to buy a lithium charger as your regular charger for a lead acid battery isn't safe to charge the lithium battery. Even more money to spend. One person told me to buy a glass mat lead acid battery instead. They also are more expensive than a standard lead acid battery, but not nearly as expensive as the lithium battery. The dealer convinced me to go with a heavy duty deep cycle standard lead acid battery.

Got a photo from a speeding camera in the mail. I immediately sent it back - way too expensive and really poor quality.

Alive, but you can't hide the obvious brain damage.

For as long as battery's have been around, I have heard about glove's, to protect from shocks, to keep acid off ya, to not have it do something out of nature to ya LOL think its mostly an insurance warning for the company !!
