Not in my experience. I caught 6 adult males and an adult female out of the same hole 2 years ago. The female was coming out and the males were both coming in and out.by the trigger placement on a 160.

I didn't keep track of the sex ratio, but 2 summers ago I caught 24 chucks out of 2 holes under a storage container, over a three week period. Multiples out of the same hole are pretty standard here.

About 80% of the time, I will take multiple chucks from the same den.

In the Spring multiple catches from a single den with no connecting holes is common. Once they have pups it is usually the female and pups only in a den until they are kicked out of the den. Den networks can certainly have multiple occupants in my experience.

Caught two large adult males in three days at den under shed. Apparently I shouldn’t have to worry about a litter.

So we have a small groundhog issue at Church which is located in the center of town i like using conibears the problem is the have to be enclosed 12” inches from both opening. The den is on a fairly steep slope so i don’t know how well a live trap would work i have some bridger # 2’s so i guess that would work do yall have any suggestions? Thanks Hillbilly

Is that 12 inch enclosed for all size coni's, I've been using 160 round body grips that can be placed back in the opening

The use of body gripping traps with a jaw spread in excess of 7½ inches is prohibited except when such traps are at least half submerged by water.
It is unlawful to set on land any steel foothold trap with teeth set upon the jaws or with a maximum inside jaw spread exceeding 6½ inches measured perpendicular to the hinges.
It is unlawful to set above the ground any body gripping trap with a jaw spread in excess of 5 inches when using any bait, lure or scent. However, baited body-gripping traps with a jaw spread greater than 5 inches and up to 7½ inches may be used within an enclosure with openings no greater than 60 square inches and the trap trigger recessed at least 12 inches from all openings. Traps must be staked to prevent enclosures from turning over and may only be used on private lands with written permission of the landowner.

Slope wouldn’t be an issue for a Comstock cage trap - you can even run them vertically. They are a bit pricey, but well worth the investment. Being that you would be using a cage trap it appears that setting directly over the openings (positive set) is permitted.

Get some Comstock 9x11x24 with a nosecone. It makes catching groundhogs from burrows almost too easy. Once the trap is "seasoned" by a groundhog, it gets even easier.
