Guys which is the superior product to use ?
Been thinking about dipping again but using paint thinner with the Andy stoe dip.
Your suggestions?

I’ve used it in the past and didn’t care for it,,, thought maybe I’d give it another shot using paint thinner instead of using Coleman gas..
It will never touch my coyote traps… still walnut hulls for me.
The last time I tried dip it was tacky and didn’t dry well..
Gonna try to thin it out a little more… instead of 1 quart to a gallon, go 1.5 and see..
this will only be used on the water traps and body grips.

I’ve always just used non-oxy 91 and had good results. But as you said, be sure to really thin it down. Like even 3 or 4 gallons of gas to a quart of dip.

I've never tried paint thinner, but I mix speed dip 6 to 1 with Coleman fuel and have great results. I use it on all my traps and have for years.

I just finished doing a couple dozen 330s and some #11s when the humidity was 36% and the temp was around 80. The mix was 4:1 Coleman lantern fluid and Andy Stoe’s dip. It dried in less than an hour.

Yesterday when it was ~80 degrees and twice the humidity, I re-used the dip for a couple dozen 1 1/2 coils, some stakes and odds and ends. I noticed that some of the Andy Stoe’s material had settled out of the mix. I’m thinking this gave me a 5:1 or even 6:1 mix. The coating dried in about 30-minutes. It helped to have some wind flowing thru the garage! Great black color. Now I’m ready for next fall

What, which one of the two?
I've never had a problem with Coleman fuel, aka as "white gas", which really isn't gas at all.
Dries fast and no lingering odor.

If you can find any Aaron’s dip it works better cut it 4 to one.

I use Rustoleum rusty primer with acetone about 1-3 ratio. Works great.

Acetone. beaverpeeler is spot-on with ratios, also.

Just doing what I want now.

Thanks guys,,,, I’ve seen the rustolem/mineral spirits thing but that 60 bucks per gallon for rust oleum kinda scared me off.
I don’t know if 1 quart of rustoleum to 1 gallon of mineral spirits is way too thin because I’ve seen some ratios of 1 gal paint to 1 gallon of minerals spirits .. every time I ever tried it in the past it was always too gunky because of it being too humid.

Also played with the idea of mineral spirits to Andy stoe dip.

I use a 6-1 Speed Dip. Kaatz Bros dip, Blackies Dip, Aarons Dip, etc...
John, that's a 6 parts Colemans fuel to one container of the dip you choose...no problems.
I like a dry, warm windy day IF I can choose.

I have a 1 gallon, unopened can of Coleman gas, Can it be used with Rustoleum?

Correct ratio? This would be for body grip traps.
