I found this on a dead ash tree today. Is this a golden oyster mushroom? [Linked Image]

The picture makes the mushrooms look yellow underneath but they are white.

59 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

Thanks Kre. I'm pretty sure mine are oysters but they seemed past prime so I didn't cook them. I'll watch for a fresh batch that will be more firm and have less bugs.

Looks like it. Golden oysters have no toxic lookalike. So as long as you check all identifiers you should be good to go.

These are the ones I found last week as well

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Getting some good moisture the last few days,I'll be looking for some Oysters and Chicken of the Woods in the next couple of weeks. Our Morel season was a bust too cold too dry then 85 to 92 temps dried up what few we had, less than 100 behind the house this year. Most years 400 to 1000....

Great time to look for wild mushrooms. Warm, rainy then sunny weather. BOOM!

We just found a couple of 5-gallon buckets' worth of the golden oyster mushrooms. They are great to eat and some of our favorites. Ours were on dead hackberry.
